If you didn’t know our story, you wouldn’t know there is another child in this picture. A 19-month-old little girl, clinging to my leg, smiling at her brothers. She’s wearing a blue dress to match her mommy. She’s got blonde curly hair and her daddy’s hazel eyes. And a smile that lights up every room.
She’s not physically here, but we see her. I can’t look at a picture of my boys and not see her too. She is younger than her two older brothers, yet has taught them so much. We firmly feel that Caleb accepted Jesus at such a tender age, and with the confidence and understanding of a child way beyond his years, because of his sister. Because of her spirit. Because of how real she has made heaven to us.
And now, she gets to be both little and big sister to THREE boys. And I have no doubt she will continue shaping and lighting up their hearts in the sweetest of ways. If she were still on earth with us, they would all be watching over her. Being protective brothers over the only little girl our family has.
How amazing it is to think that she is the one watching over them.
“I will tell of the Lord’s unfailing love; I praise him for all he has done for us.” ~Isaiah 63:7
